Converter Boxes

boneladyAugust 25, 2008

I have sent for the $40 coupon to purchase a convertor box. I have Cable on the first floor and basement but not on the 2nd floor in the bedrooms. I don;t want to go thru have wires fished and cable upstairs just to watch the news before bed.

Any suggestions about waht to look for in these boxes when I go shopping? One bedroom is connected to a master antenna on the roof of my townhouse, but the other bedroom does not have an antenna outlet.

My elderly mother stays with me a little more frequently and I want to a put a TV in tat room also.

if your local statio is close enough, a set of rabbit ears on top of the tv will suffice. for more distant stations you will need to get it to the outside antenna. you will need 1 convertor for EACH tv. the convertors use their own remote to change channles, so you can't just stick 1 somewhere and feed teh rest.

If you get a tuner with "RF Pass Through", when you turn off the box you can then still tune your local analog channels on your tv.

Thanks everyone! I'm shopping this week-end. I think I get a digital TV for my room and get some antenna wire hooked up for the guest room.
