ipad, galaxy tablet charging

Is it detrimenatal to leave these tablets plugged in after they are fully charged? I was told it is so. It seems to me they should have an auto cut off built in. Thank you for your help.

I would think the opposite, leaving them plugged in would eliminate the charging cycles that reduce battery longevity. It might be best to check with the manufacturer of your specific tablet.
