Fish Smell in Car--Help!!

caroline_hAugust 6, 2006

I am writing for my friend, who is too shy to post on an internet message board, but she would appreciate the help. It seems that a friend gave her a big bowl full of the friend's beloved homemade fish stew and it spilled all over the back seat or back area of her car. This was at least a week ago, and the fish smell won't come out, despite repeated washings with baking soda. She says the odor is still quite strong. She will not use febreeze, as she has chemical sensitivities. She's not chemically sensitive to everything, but is chemically sensitive to febreeze. Her husband, who does not have chemical sensitivities, can still smell the odor--apparently it's pretty unmistakable. They've had the windows open full-time with no luck.

Anyone here have a good idea or know what to do here?

Thanks very much.

Try a liberal sprinkling of baking soda, left to sit for a day and then vaccumed up.
