Toshiba 36' TV Channel and Volume Problem

happsMay 29, 2007

I have a twelve year old Toshiba 36" television that was top fo line during it's time-model CF35D50. The picture is fantastic (equal to a Sony Trinitron) and I've never had any troubles with it until the last few days. When I use the Toshiba factory remote control for the television or even if I control the tv through the VCR (also a Toshiba model) with the VCR remote control, whenever I press the volume button up or down one time, the volume will automatically keep increasing or decreasing. It is extremely difficult (takes a few minutes and many tries) to get the volume to stop and stay in one position. The same thing happens when you press the channel up and down button. This only happens when using the remote control. When you press the channel and volume buttons on the tv itself, everything works well. Any suggestions on what could be causing this problem?
