Primitive Tea Towel source

Hi All,

I came over from the gardening forum. Can someone tell me where to get primitive tea towels on the net? I need to embroider a bunch of them.

They are the country towels that have little checks in barn red colors, browns and any color really. They have a distinct look about them. I attached a photo of an example of a primitive towel.

I am having a heck of a time finding a source. If anyone can chime in, I'd sure appreciate it.

I typed in 'red checked tea towels' on Google and found many sources. Ebay and Amazon had listings too. Good luck. Post photos when embroidered. Paula

Yes, thank you! For $7 to $16 each. Lots of them. I am looking for a supplier whose prices are fair, closer to 2.60 to 3.00 each. Dunroven House is the leader in these towels.

I'm looking for the best low cost supplier of Dunroven House or similar home spun towel. I'm in PA.

Just came across this page as I was "browsing around". I'm brand new to Garden Web, just did my first post with a question over on Herbs and thought I'd check out some of the other forums, too. If you haven't found a reasonable source, are you a sewer? I have found the heavier homespun, such as these towels are made from, at some of the fabric stores and made my own. My home is done in a kind of "primitive vintage cottage" look and I love these towels too, but not the higher prices.

I can't find anything lower than 3.29 in a quality homespun tea towel. If add in shipping, it is about 4 bucks a towel.

Yes I sew and machine embroider.

If I make my own, how many can I sew from a yard of homespun fabric and what is the cost of a yard of decent stuff?

I suppose they should be about 20 inches wide but not sure how long a tea towel is.
