Embroidery on cloth diapers! HELP!

melcooneyAugust 19, 2008

Hi. I'm totally new to this...but I just bought a Janome 9700. I am sewing on gerber cloth diapers, monogramming a name. How do i avoid the cloth around it to show as almost as if it is part of the stitching. Hard to explain, but almost as if it is pressing too hard. I lightened up the tension, but no luck...looked worse. Is it the material? The cloth diapers i am using have the fluffy middle part to them. (absorbent down the center part, thinner on the outside).

Thanks for your help!

It maybe too early for me but I'm confused about your problem. Do you mean that the stitches are too tight or are the stitches sinking in and not being seen crisply like a loopy towel? Can you tell us how you are hooping and what stabilizer you are using. I don't usually use diapers for burps. I have done a couple. I usually make my own out of flannel and those are thick also.

Are you using Solvy or some type of water soluble topping? It helps with the stitches sinking into the fabric. Just a thoght--I always use it on mine.
