made emroidery machine labels?

clm27July 15, 2006

Has anyone done this? I cant find ones I want to or can

afford to buy in batches. I use them on my handsewn gifts

and I havent a clue how to make them, even tho I own an embroidery and sewing machine. I mostly sew. I need some of your expert opinions.

I haven't found a font small enough to do a label. My smallest is too big & any smaller would be unreadable. I have seen some for quilts & etc. We are in such a "no label" world that companies are printing on their items & not sewing anything in. Guess that's ok since they put brand names on the outside.

clm27, this may not work for you, but here's an idea for your labels until you can find exactly what you want.

I use my computer to design/write my labels and then print them on photo transfer paper in mirror image, of course. Then I can cut out a label, press it onto a garment and do a fancy embroidery stitch around it or leave it plain. Lots of people appreciate this more than the expensive sew-in labels which can irritate sensitive skin, expecially when wearing shirts.

Got the idea from Hanes teeshirts and underwear. Try it, you might like it! Billie
