Philips Magnavox TS3260 C129 Resistor Problem?

randalltMarch 23, 2006

Hi All,

I have the same problem that many have submitted questions about: TV goes on for about 30 seconds with wavy white lines, gray screen, perfect sound and then it cuts out/shots off. I believe it is the same resistor has been replaced professinally before...under it's my turn!

Is it the same resistor (R3340?) can I replace it with a 10 ohm 1/2w resistor...from Radio Shack?

If someone has a picture or diagram of how to locate this resistor in the TV I would greatly appreciate the help!

Thank you!

Thanks to Pee Wee, and all others that submitted useful information for replacing the 3340 Resistor in the Philips Magnavox TVs. I just wanted to let you all know that I successfully replaced this resistor over the weekend. The resistors purchased at Radio Shack are a little larger in appearance, are a different color than the factory installed resistor and have four color bands as opposed to five...they still work!

One thing to think about is getting the correct type of solder and resin to attach solder to a CRT board. I had high quality silver solder for electronics, but with the TV sitting in a upright position, the solder would not stick to the CRT. So, with the help of a friend, we put the TV face down (Protecting the tube of course) and I was able to drop the solder into place without any problems.
