Problems connecting DVD player with Laptop...help please

ar_dramaqueenMarch 24, 2009

I have a HP Pavilion dv9910us and a Panasonic DVD recorder.

I am wanting to hook my laptop to the TV through the Panasonic DVD player.

I have some home videos on my laptop and am needing to get them off of the laptop and onto DVDs.

I need to know how to hook the 2 together so that the picture will appear on the TV and the videos may be transferred from my computer to my DVD recorder.

I have an S-video cable and an audio cord (headphone jack on one end and white/red composite cables on the other).

I have tried hooking the two up this way, and I have succeeded in getting sound to come through. The problem is the picture. The S-Video cable does not seem to carry the picture like it should. Instead, the screen remains black.

How do I fix the problem?

Thank you in advance for any help.

You either have to change the input select on the dvd recorder to s-video (and you may find there is a set of audio inputs separate for the s-video) or you may have to enable the s-video output on the laptop - there may be a control panel or something in your settings for that. Your HP handbook should tell you how.

Good luck with it.
