Canon A1 Digital Camcorder

bob44March 15, 2008

I have a Canon A1 Digital camcorder that that no longer has video playback. This unit has been used very little over time.

A previous repair by Canon was performed for a straight fee of $300.00. Now the same issue is at hand. I have a lot of money invested with camcorder and accessories. Everything is in like new condition. What should I do? Feedback welcome.

How long ago was the previous repair? Canon should guarantee their repair for at least 90 days. Most mfgrs do.

If the repair is not under warranty anymore you need to weigh the cost of the new repair versus the cost of camera replacement.

Included in that equation you should consider the time it takes to have the repair done, the inconvenience of not having your camera, and the age of the camera.
