removing transfer marks

kathieloMay 20, 2006

My daughter received a beautiful handmade tablecloth, white linen with white cross stitched pattern. The woman who made it told her not to wash it until she needed it. That was 8 yrs. ago and now she wants to use it for a christening party. Unfortunately the pattern markings are not coming out, they are blue. She has tried several different things, oxyclean, color safe bleach, detergents, etc. No luck. Some have faded but others remain. Any suggestions for removing old pattern markings. Thanks.

Maybe try asking at your local fabric / quilt shop? I'm not sure what kind of ink those markings are printed with so I really don't have much help. Good luck though, it sounds like a beautiful gift!
