Embroidering on a baby bib

sparklesbyshellJanuary 4, 2007

HELP! I am very new to embroidery and cannot figure out what I am doing wrong. These bibs are a knit and VERY stretchy. I put a cutaway underneath, but all the top thread keeps gathering underneath and sucking every thing down into the machine. Suggestions!!!!

I don't know if it matters but I own a Viking Designer I. Thanks in advance!

You have to stop the stretch in the bib with a stabilizer that irons to the bib. If the bib if double, I don't know if adding it to the bottom layer only will fix the problem. You also need to use a Solvy or some water soluble stablizer to the top. You still need a cut away underneath but hoop it & attach the bib to it with a spray adhesive.

I did a cut away on the bottom and the solvy on the top but it still made a mess. I will try the iron on next. Thanks for the info!!! I am thinking of just putting the design on cotton and appliqueing it onto the bib.
