Replacing an Home Sentry Smoke Alarm

UnumProvident101January 30, 2014

At my house we have an late 1970's general electric smoke alarm but my dad plans to replace it with an new one sometime next week
That smoke alarm always hurts my ears and it sounds like an foghorn, I'm always worried that it will go off.

I just hate that alarm

False alarms are certainly a pain. Not near as much, though, as when the alarm fails to get your attention when the smoke is real.

Kidde seems to be a very good brand.

I just wanted one that doesn't scare me as much
and one that reduced the false alarm

While installing your new smoke alarm it must be install on or near the ceiling with care taken to avoid dead air spaces.

Hope it will be useful for you.
