Green cord from the wall phone jack to the DSL modem

Just curious. Someone said that one must have a green cord from the wall phone jack to the DSL modem. I noticed mine is green and got to wondering, is this just a convention or is the green cord really different?

You can get them in about any color you want.

The construction is what is important.

It isn't a convention. I would imagine the phone company just color codes cables to make instructions for self-installation clearer and subsequent phone troubleshooting easier.
