Best Fence Story between zoning and homowner

jaysgardenMarch 24, 2011

Here's one of the best fence stories between a "feuding" homeowner and a city zoning commision. The jist of it is homeowner wanted a fence more than 6 foot high because neighbors home is on an incline and situated very close allowing the neighbors to see into the windows. Zoning commision would not allow more than a 6 foot high fence. So the homeowner constructed a three foot high landscaping mound and then placed a six foot wooden fence on top of the mound, totaling nine feet in height.

The case made it all the way to an Ohio Appeals Court where a decison was made in favor of the homeowner.

Here is the decision:

Cool! I wanted to see what it looked like so I checked it out on Zillow. The house is on a corner lot. Don't blame her for wanting a little privacy.
