Dog urine on hardwood floor

jugoFebruary 21, 2010

We're in the middle of a big remodel, and have moved out of our house into a rental place. We went on vacation. Our dog was not pleased. He appears to have shown his displeasure by peeing on a carpet, which then soaked through to the hardwood underneath. We discovered this upon our return from said vacation.

Here's what it looks like underneath the carpet:

We're not really sure how long the urine has been there. The carpet was still above it was still wet when we found it yesterday. We've cleaned it with wood floor cleaner, but is there anything else we can do? It seems a little fainter around the edges, so we're hoping that maybe it will dry and clear up, but are we deluding ourselves? Any advice?

Thanks for your help!

Well, the photo doesn't want to show up. Here's a link:

That photo doesn't show either, but anyway- you need to soak that entire area with an enzyme cleaner like Nature's Miracle available at any pet shop. Enzymes are the only thing that will eliminate that odor, and if you don't eliminate it that dog will follow his nose right back to it.
