LOOKING for: Marzipan Candy

I want to make traditional Scandinavian marzipan candies, in the shape of various fruits, for Christmas; but I can't find my recipe. It was from my Swedish aunt who actually taught classes in making them.

I remember it was really simple. No egg whites. I looked online but most recipes used egg whites, and I know the usual recipe did not have that.

Also, the last time I made them the stiff dough almost broke my food processor. I don't remember my aunt having that kind of trouble. Any tips?

The recipe I have has an egg, but here's a recipe that doesn't (I found it on the internet a few years ago - I've never tried it).

3 cups sugar
1 cup water
5 cups ground almonds
1 tsp or more of almond extract (to taste)
Food coloring of various colors

Dissolve the sugar and water in a saucepan and add the almonds.

Cook on low heat, stirring constantly, until the marzipan comes away from the pan.

Remove from heat and turn out onto a baking sheet.
Knead until smooth, adding extract while mixture is still warm.

Divide up the marzipan, adding food coloring to each part to shape into any variety of fruits, vegetables.
