LOOKING for: Baker's Blond Brownies cir. 1974

cece_August 6, 2008

Hi--

In 1974 I went to a shower and they served Blonde Brownies. The hostess said it was the recipe on the back of Baker's chocolate chips. I bought a package and had the recipe for years. I have lost it, and I am having a major craving.

I have been to Baker's (Kraft's) site, and googled and have not found the one. This recipe has you spread the dough out in a 9x13 pan, and then lightly press the chips and pecans into the batter.

Many Thanks in advance,

Cece

Blondies with Pecans and Chocolate Chips
Bon Appétit : July 1998

Makes about 24.

R.S.V.P. - S'Moores Caffe, Augusta GA

2 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
10 tablespoons (1 1/4 sticks) unsalted butter
2 cups (packed) golden brown sugar (I used dark brown)
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips (about 4 1/2 ounces)
3/4 cup chopped pecans (about 3 ounces)

Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter and flour 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan. Mix flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 3/4 teaspoon salt and 1/4 teaspoon baking soda in medium bowl. Melt butter in large saucepan over low heat. Remove saucepan from heat. Add sugar and whisk to blend. Whisk in eggs and vanilla extract. Gradually stir in flour mixture (batter will be thick). Spread batter in prepared pan. Sprinkle with chocolate chips and pecans. Bake blondies until tester inserted into center comes out with moist crumbs attached, about 25 minutes. (I had to cook mine for about 30-31 mins. At 25 they were way underdone.) Cool blondies in pan on rack. (Can be prepared 1 day ahead. Cover and let stand at room temperature.) Cut into squares and serve.
