LOOKING for: Advice: Chaning size of pans for cake

heartsyMay 30, 2009

I want to take a pound cake recipe and put it in two 5X9 loaf pans. It is a large amount of batter and the last time I made it, the batter ran over the side of the pan. If I put it in loaf pans, can I bake two at one time. How do I adjust the heat and timing. Thanks for your help.

It shouldn't be a problem. My mother always made her pound cakes in loaf pans rather than a tube pan. She always froze the second one for later.

You may not need to change much in terms of baking. Just check carefully for doneness with a toothpick, cake tester or piece of spaghetti (uncooked).

Here's an interesting table on pan conversions.
