I've made these & I don't think you'll be disappointed. Just make sure the dough is well chilled & coat them pretty heavily with sugar.

Mmmm..... I like the "dark cocoa" and the "[chocolate chips & peppermint extract]" ideas. Captured them too. Mmmm.....
No sugar topping on these but they are soft, fudgy & moist.

Chocolate Sour Cream Drops
1 Cup sugar
1 Cup packed brown sugar
1 Teaspoon Vanilla
1 Cup dairy sour cream
Â½ c. butter or margarine, melted
Â½ c. shortening, melted
2 Â½ c. flour
1 Cup cocoa
1 Teaspoon Baking powder
Â½ tsp. Baking soda
1 Cup chopped walnuts -optional
. Preheat oven to 325 Â°-grease cookie sheets.
Cream eggs, sugar & vanilla. Blend in sour cream, butter & shortening.
Combine flour,cocoa, baking powder and baking soda-add to sugar mixture.
Stir in nuts if using. Drop by tablespoonfuls onto greased sheet. Bake 12
min or until just set-cool slightly ;remove from sheet to wire rack until

Chocolate Espresso Cookies
Â½ cup cocoa
2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 stick (Â½ cup) butter
3 large eggs
1 cup sugar
2 teaspoons finely ground coffee beans
Â¾ cup all-purpose flour
1/3 teaspoon baking powder
Â¼ teaspoon salt
Preheat oven to 350Â°. Line baking sheet with Parchment paper or grease. Melt butter over low heat and stir in 1 cup of chocolate chips until smooth; remove from heat and stir in cocoa. In a electric mixer bowl beat eggs, sugar and ground coffee on high speed until very thick, pale and mixture forms a ribbon when beaters are lifted, about 5 minutes. Beat in chocolate mixture. Sift in flour, baking powder and salt stirring by had just until combined. Fold in remaining chocolate chips. Drop batter by heaping tablespoons about 2-inches apart onto baking sheets. Bake in middle of oven 8 to 10 minutes until puffed and cracked on top. Do not over bake. Cool on baking sheet at least 1 minute. Cool completely on rack. Makes 40 cookies
