RECIPE: Snickerdoodles

SylviaFebruary 14, 2004

1 c soft shortening

1 1/2 c sugar

2 eggs

2 3/4 c sifted flour

2 tsp cream of tartar

1 tsp soda

1/4 tsp salt

Preheat oven to 400°. Mix shortening, sugar, and eggs thoroughly. Sift together flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt; stir into first mixture. Form dough into balls about the size of a walnut. Roll in mixture of sugar and cinnamon. Place about 2" apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes.

1/4 c sugar

4 tsp cinnamon

Mix ingredients in a small bowl. This makes it easy to coat each ball formed by the cookie dough.

I think everyone has had time to see this one. I posted it during an impending snowstorm as an easy recipe to bake with common ingredients on hand.
