Range hood ideas

ghideonDecember 5, 2012

Hello,

I'm having a new 36in range installed, and will be removing the current hood. Here are some of the things I'm interested in:

baffles
36in width (due to cabinets)
900-1000cfm
chimney style hood (also due to cabinets)
length of ~30in (I have 9ft ceilings)

From all the searching/reading I've done, those requirements put me in pro territory. The best offerings I can come up with are from Thermador (HMCN36FS) and Viking (VCWH3648X).

Also, it seems that finding chimney style hoods that are > 24in deep is very hard. Am I missing any other products out there that might fit?

I recently researched the same for an island hood for my upcoming project. Take a look at modernaire.com, and prizerhoods.com
I ended up going with Prizer

I was planning this Kobe, but in 42", before I found a great deal on my Rangecraft. You didn't mention the duct size with which you're working. This one is 8". 1000cfms. 25" deep.

Here is a link that might be useful: Kobe. On sale even!

Go with the baffles. But be careful when downsizing duct, how many cfm's? Diameter, length, and especially elbows or bends in duct have a great impact on the blower's ability to work efficiently. There are many charts on line regarding cfm/duct size requirements.
