Facebook

Facebook...I keep getting 'do you know xxx'?, in my Yahoo mail.
Is this because someone looked at my site?
I very rarely use Facebook- just for particular communicating with a couple friends, but I do not search or 'surf' on Facebook.
Maybe FBI wasn't such a great idea!

Yup Facebook trying to drum up business. I too direct those straight into the Spam folder, and I do not have an account with them just lots of friends according to their reckoning. Linkedin can be another pest but slightly less so than FB.

I have tried it a couple of times, but it's not for me. I used it once with an alias to locate a great grandson, worked great for that.

Well I finally signed up for a facebook account a few months ago. I had resisted only because I didn't feel like learning something new right now and for me if someone wants to share something they can just email me a photo or text me on my phone or send a tweet which I can get on my phone.

I signed up because I found out the one slot machine I love to play at the casino the gaming company had a facebook page and I could play a few of there games there for fun so I bit the bullet and signed up. I have everything blocked and don't want to friend anyone or get into that so only go on to play my game and that works for me. I have since found a few more slots from other gaming companies I am addicted to on there. Mary

I have a FB acct with a yahoo addy I use for things like this and send them right to junk also.

Seldom use either of them and I specifically logged out when I left FB but haven't been able to find LOG OUT lately. Is that no longer an option?

breenthumb, FB keeps changing things around.....guess they want to keep us on our toes. Anyway the "logout" is still up in the right hand corner except it is now a little wheel thing instead of an arrow. Just click on it and you get the drop-down box where "Log-Out" is.

BTW; You should ALWAYS log-out when you leave AND close the browser! I understand they have cookies that can track where you go after you leave if you don't close and open a new browser. Practice "safe surfing" always!!!

msm84, So they hid it, huh? Good to know I can log out again. I always felt they were tracking too. Thanks for the help.

I know I should but... I seldom remember.

I do use this Adblock Plus rule though, which I think helps thwart their efforts at tracking me:

If it works like I think, it blocks facebook from serving me content from anywhere other than their own domain.

I tried it with Google but I lost embedded videos and maps on too many sites.

I don't consider it a safety issue, just a matter of "It's really none of their business."

I agree, but there are way to many "IFY" websites that appear to be legit and are not and I sure don't want them appearing on my FB page! My theory is to not trust any website you are not sure about *lol*
