We love the look of Ipe but not the price and the fact that it needs to be resealed. We would love to use Hardie Board but want the look of cedar or Ipe.
Has anyone seen anything like this?
What or how are you planing to use Ipe or the composite/man made material for?
Here you go:
These are mostly applied by pre-finish companies such as this one: http://carolinacolortones.com/products/cement-options/
but can be applied on-site. It needs to be applied before installation to get the wood-grain look.
Here is a link that might be useful: Duckback Woodperfect
thank you so much tabbycat!
I was trying to find a paint color that resembled wood for our new home (Have not started to build yet). We were planning to use hardie board. In my last search, I found certainteed (spelling?) actually carries a line of the fiber cement siding with the wood grain already primed and stained. I called them and they are sending me maple and cedar samples. I was too excited to have found that. My computer capabilities leave nothing to be deisired so google certainteed cedar lap siding.
Hardie does have a wood look impressions on the that has the looks of wood, but it isn't as rough as real wood so you can tell it isn't. Don't think I have seen a non real one that looks exactly like it up close.
