Vinyl Siding

MegolfishOctober 28, 2012

Is there a vinyl siding manufactured that does not allow mold/mildew to grow on it? Does the factory paint on Hardiplank prevent mold/mildew growth? I'm planning on building next year and every home that I see with vinyl has mold/mildew growth on it.

Do you mean algae? There is a difference between mold/mildew an algae. If you are in a damp area or shaded area with condensation, it could be algae, in which case, anti-mold/mildew wouldn't be effective anyway (think about what grows on gutters and roofs... Sometimes moss, but even anti-moss roofs will grow algae).

If this is the case, you would most importantly want to get your insulation right on your house, and then choose something that power washes well.
