Fuzzy logic rice takes forever!

kitchendetectiveOctober 21, 2011

We've been eating a lot of brown rice lately. My Zojirushi fuzzy logic rice maker takes close to two hours to finish the basic recipe (one cup rice to two and a quarter cups water). Is that normal for this rice maker?

I have Panasonic machine but the principal is the same. Brown rice takes MUCH longer to cook than white rice. My manual says 3 hours or more although my experience has been about 2- 2 1/2. White rice takes me 50min to 1 hour.

Look in your manual (assuming English) and I'll bet you'll find similar.

Thanks. When I had a good old twenty-five year-old, Sanyo, non-fuzzy rice maker, it didn't take this long, so I assumed something was wrong. I don't have an instruction booklet anymore (eaten by teething Great Pyrenees puppy).
