Solar oven cookware needed

haldJuly 24, 2008

I cooked in a solar oven for the first time today. I made au gratin potatoes. They turned out excellent. I used a nonstick lightweight aluminum pot with a glass lid. At 3.5 quarts it was a little too big for the solar oven.

I'm hoping someone might know where I can find a nonstick, lightweight, thin walled, pot that is about 6 inches tall with glass lid, and about 10" across. I think I'd prefer black enameled steel, but would also consider granite ware. I've searched the web but haven't turned up anything that size. Any suggestions would be very appreciated.

Try your local Dollar, Family Dollar store or such.
Google "granite ware" also if all else fails.

You can use a deep skillet and remove the plastic handle.
Their sometimes called a chicken cooker/fryer.
Most sets of pot and pans come with a large pot. I am not talking about a 10" deep soup pot.
