Stainless dinner knives pitted.

If this is the wrong forum, please tell me where to post.
I have a set of Michelangelo by Oneida that I got when we got married. The blades are pitted, what would cause this and are they unsafe to use? I do put them in the dishwasher. I should add that they are 40 years old and no other pieces are affected.

Try posting in other forums which are busier. Try Kitchens, Appliances and Cooking.

Beagle, why not call customer service @ Oneida and talk to them, they may even replace your knives but you won't know without asking

We have Yamazaki SS flatware and from time to time I notice dark spots on the blades of the butter knives. They look like pits but are tarnish spots that clean right off with a little BKF. I'm not sure that will help you but BKF is so inexpensive it may be worth a try.
