copper kettle boiled dry

juliegFebruary 23, 2006

I accidentally boiled a Simplex copper kettle dry and the bottom and sides are tarnished as well, the inside of it is very darkish, almost black now. Have I ruined it? If not how can I clean it up so that it is safe to use?

Thanks for your help!

I'm pretty sure the copper Simplex kettles are tin lined. If so, it's unlikely that the lining survived in a safe condition. Tin melts at 450ºF.
