Windows Crashed

blueheronOctober 1, 2011

I have a HP desktop computer and I had Windows XP as the operating system.

The computer was becoming extremely slow, so I contacted a tech who advised installing Linux and still keeping Windows on the system. Linux runs much faster.

Well, he did install Linux and it does run much faster but unfortunately when he installed it, Windows crashed and he couldn't recover it.

Is there any reason why I can't install Windows again? Or will it conflict with Linux?

Sounds like what the tech did is accidentally delete the windows partition when he / she installed Linux very easy to do. Or he broke the Master Boot record. You can install windows again on a separate partition and still keep Linux.

Thank you for your help. I will check with the computer tech before trying this myself.

What happened to the recovery CDs that might have come with the computer and what happened to the recovery partition?
