Dark blue tile shower - water deposits

Anna_in_TXDecember 18, 2013

Yes or No? I think that the answer will be no.

I am interested in using Daltile cobalt blue or sea breeze blue field tile in combination with white field and trim. I have hard water and do not have a water softener. I do squeegee and towel dry the shower after each use.

Should I install dark tile? The whole wall or maybe just above the chair rail? Or just the back walls?

If you squeegee and towel dry after each use, you shouldn't have a spotting problem. Therefor I would install whatever tile you prefer.

A coating of RainX might be helpful too.

Thanks. I had not thought of RainX - good idea. I will also be using epoxy grout. It will be a small shower 48 x 36 with just a shower door.

I have glass shower doors that I squeegee religiously and they look pretty good. A few years ago someone told me RainX would make them even better. It didn't, the result was awful, almost greasy looking. It took me some effort to get it all off. Test a small area first.
