New garbage disposal replacement

Ellen1234October 23, 2013

Long story, but I had an InSinkErator Evolution Select Plus 3/4 HP Continuous Feed Garbage Disposal installed as part of my kitchen remodel. Unfortunately the dishwasher installers (from a major appliance store chain) installed the dishwasher drain into the disposal which is not allowed by code here. They came out and fixed the drain issue, but created some 6" piping contraption coming of of the DW drain opening. I'm seeing food in that opening from the inside and I think that's not good.

Anyway, they've offered to replace it, but they only sell KitchenAid. I think the comparable one is KitchenAid Continuous Feed Garbage Disposal - KCDS075T.

By any chance, are these really the same disposal just with different branding? I'm trying to decide if I should have them do this, or push for installing the InSinkErator (I would buy and they'd reimburse me - although I'm not sure they'd do this).

Any idea?
