Location of Glass Shower Door

lpenningtonNovember 16, 2012

We are at the tail end of a master bath renovation. The shower was expanded some and redone with travertine tile. I would like your opinions on the location and width of the frameless glass door configuration. The space is 72" across (see sample pic below) with good depth and the two shower faucets are on the left wall (not back 72" wall). There will be a door and one fixed piece of glass. The door can be 28" to 36". The problem is that I am not sure about where it should be ... should it be on the faucet side (so we can turn it on from outside the shower) or away from shower so water isn't hitting the door?? Please chime in!

I would probably recommend a 12" panel, a 28" door hinged on the right and a 32" panel. This is all from the outside of the shower and you may need to use a header since the door will be hinged on the panel and you will not want it to wobble. I would probably use 1/2" glass for the panels and either 1/2" or 3/8" for the door.
