Choosing a faucet for a small pedestal sink

msbrandywinevalleyNovember 26, 2012

I've got three bathroom remodeling projects running simultaneously, so my approach is to focus on one task or choice at a time. Today's question: what faucet to use on a very small pedestal sink to be placed in a very small powder room. The sink is the Stanford 460 by Barclay. I'm inclined to use a single-lever faucet rather than one with 4" centers. The sink is 18 1/8" wide and 15" deep. I'd really appreciate some recommendations. Thanks!

Here's a link to the sink: http://www.homeperfect.com/barclay-3-876wh-stanford-460-pedestal-lavatory-in-white.html?cvsfa=3932&cvsfe=2&cvsfhu=62636c333837367768&gclid=CMOY5cbw7LMCFUWo4AodfCMAHg

The faucet will be determined by which sink you bought. There are different faucet openings available and they aren't interchangeable.

The sink comes with either 4" centers or single-hole.

The large escutcheon will cover the 4" on center holes I believe, if you go with a single lever.

My question is which faucet configuration to choose -- single lever or 4" center. This is a new sink I'm buying and I can order it either way. I like the look of the two-handle faucet, but I'm concerned about the aesthetics, given the sink's small size.

Personally, I prefer a 4" center setup, since there are more small scale faucets available for that configuration. I don't see many single handles these days that aren't pretty large.
