Where to put the master bedroom?

Kathi67August 24, 2012

I am looking at plans for a future new split bedroom home and cannot decide if I want the master bedroom off of the living room or off of the kitchen. Will someone please advise me which would be better?

Thank You

We had a split level and the kitchen and dining room were ok but the master bedroom was down a hallway. It depends where you want it. I would not want to walk into the bedroom directly from either LR or K. We also had a linen closet next to the bedroom.

Neither is optimal. Both are busy and loud locations and you need separation from that type of space for a bedroom. It should be down a short ha.l or off of another room, and the bath or closets space should act as a buffer between them.
