Dual flush toilets

tombobOctober 15, 2013

I am remodeling a bathroom and am considering a dual flush toilet made by American Standard that receives decent ratings on Amazon. Our water bills are high due to the high cost of water where we live and I want to cut consumption.

Anyone have any experiences with these?

I have two, and for my latest bath reno, will NOT do another! It's confusing for guests who don't have dual flush. I find there is so little water in there, that sometimes streaks are left behind...now that may happen with my new one anyways as all toilets are now low-flush, but it will be the Toto Vespin 11, so I've heard good things.

I retrofitted two of our, older existing toilets with dual flush innards, and they seemed to work well. But with the remodel, my wife was wanting something a little more modern looking. And I want to save water.

Saving on water so you can afford to pay the plumber to unstop a plugged sewer line?
Take care.

I wanted dual flush, but declined for the same reason given above - too confusing for guests.
And, to fit the space we have -- 1.28 gpf was all we could get, so saving on water to afford to pay a plumber for clogged sewer line is not a choice, but a necessity in our case. I would have much preferred a 1.6 gpf toilet.
