UV Adhesive for Crystal Knob on Glass Shower Door?

jmcgowanOctober 23, 2012

We are installing a frameless glass shower door for our shower in our master bathroom. I had seen a glass/crystal knob that was used in another installation, and I really like it for its clean, traditional look. Our interior designer found the knob:

Crystal Knob

So here's my dilemma: the glass company that is making our door (who our builder always uses) told me that a knob that is adhered to (and not drilled through) the door will not last.

I cannot find the actual manufacturer of this knob, but did speak with a distributor, who told me that this was basically a crap answer -- i.e., if the knobs were applied correctly with the UV adhesive specified, and then cured with the proper UV lamp/device, that the adhesive would be as strong or stronger than having a hole drilled through a door for a knob.

Thoughts? Expert advice? Anyone with experience with this type of application?

Thanks in advance.
