flat roof with terracotta tiles?

petermareAugust 27, 2012

Assuming a bit of a pitch and terracotta tiles in a hot, but sometimes very wet climate (tropical ... no sub zero issues) and assuming sealant on the grout,... Assuming overhang and water drainage.

The idea is that it could be used as a rooftop terrace!

Traditioanl terra cotta tiles are fragile and will break if you walk on them and they require a high degree of integrity to keep them from leaking, in addition to a pitch so gravity will shed the water in the right direction.

....I think a different solution is in order. Also, if you are in a tropical climate, do you really want to be baking in the hot sun up there?

The tiles are not the draining plane, the membrane under them is.
