Smooth Cooktop turns off when I move pan off burner

olivertwistkitchenSeptember 4, 2013

Just used my new GE Profile 36" electric radiant cooktop PP975 today. It has electronic push controls in the front center of the cooktop. Every time I slid a pan off the burner, like if it was boiling and I was sliding it away to wait for it to lower to a simmer, I guess kept sliding over the on/off button and the thing would just turn off! How annoying! I guess I have to be more careful and slide it away without running across the controls? I didn't even realize I was doing it, yet it happened 3 or 4 times!

Some people would consider that a "feature". It is on some induction tops. When you take the pot of, it quits sensing anything there and turns off. Think of yours as an unintended safety feature.

Slide your pan off the burner in a different direction, not across the controls ... or lift the pan up off the burner instead of sliding it.

Dadoes, yes, I suppose you're right - I will have to adapt.
