How much is too much for a 3.6 cu. ft. front loader washing machine?

Google your make and model number and you should come up with a kilogram rating.

It varies even for washers with the same cu ft rating.

Depending on motor size and how much water is used.

I suggest that, if you haven't already done so, post your question in the Laundry forum, which is where the washing machine geeks hang out. .

The 3.6 cu. ft. specification doesn't mean much in practice.ÃÂ Literal maximum reasonable load size varies depending on the kind of fabric and items involved.

Delicate items, wrinkle-free synthetics ... target smaller loads for best performance and results.

For typical "cotton" mixed-item loads, that usually compact by about half when soaking-wet, fill the drum loosely -- meaning don't tamp-down the items or cram so much in that the door must be slammed shut with force -- leaving a fist's space at top of the drum (oriented vertically with thumb on top).
