How much space should I leave between wall and vanity?

patli3September 12, 2012

I currently have a bathroom vanity that is built in between two walls (picture attached). The wall to wall measurement is 83". We plan to get rid of that and buy a piece of those free standing furniture vanity that looks similar to this:

My question is - when selecting the width of a vanity like that, what is the ideal width that I should select? How much space should I leave between the left and right side of the vanity? Also, do you guys think it's weird to fit a piece of furniture vanity in between two walls like that?

Thanks.

We have a 90" similar space and used a 72" freestanding vanity. It looks just fine.

do you have any picture you can show by fitting a 72" on a 90" space? Do you put anything to the left and right of the vanity?
