New Shower Question

Ingardenguy57September 8, 2013

We are getting ready to install a Aker by Maax shower unit in our master bath.It is a 34 x 60 fiberglass unit.We have a hard water issue like so many of us do.

Our current shower door is a everyday chore to keep clean due to the hard water. As we were pricing out the shower door for the new unit ( NOT CHEAP),and given the issue's,with our water, we are wondering if NOT installing a shower door and going with a shower curtain may be the best way to go?

Thanks in advance for any input.

It'd be the best way to go if you don't like cleaning it or doors , and are simply going to replace it every year.

Hard water stains are going to stick to plastic and vinyl shower curtains too.

There are several no rinse shower sprays that you just spray on the walls and glass after each shower, or after when the last guy uses the shower. They prevent the minerals from leaving residue as well mold and mildew. They rinse off the next time you take a shower and then you spray again, so there is no build-up. Not for use on natural stone, and you can see a slight residue on clear glass, so get obscure glass. I use one called Clean Shower by Arm and Hammer, but there are others too. I have used this stuff for years with hard water. No scrubbing ever. Really.
