pillars on wrap around deck

crazyoneJune 8, 2011

anyone want to share photos of what they used for pillar choices on your wrap around decks

ours is a raised ranch look and i would like to have stone on bottom half but there are so many pillars and so much height to make look balanced I am worried it is cost prohibitive, please share

I used fiberglass columns, I think they are 10", a bit larger then often used but I like the chunky look. I chose fiberglass as they were a bit more expensive but the long term lack of maintenance was well worth it for me. I still need to paint them. However, im not sure how comprable my house is to a ranch (I have a very steep 12/12 roof pitch!) Hope this helps. I had thought of doing squared off, stone covered for the bottom half but this was just getting pricey and taking up usable porch space, although I do like that look.

they must be in the kitchen forum, with all the brouhaha going on over there! Takes time to read 150 multi-paragraph posts in one thread! :)
