Trends in tiling a shower

lesleyintnAugust 19, 2014

I've noticed a number of showers without trim in them. Or if they are trimmed out in a border, it tends to be the same tile in different shapes and/ or sizes. Is this a new trend? We are redoing our master bath. Thanks.

Well drats! I thought I was being "non-trendy" by not doing glass tile and just doing a color on color embossed deco tile in the same line...MAYBE a contrasting color of the embossed tile . I'd go to plan B but I don't have one ;)

I don't think I'm exactly sure what you mean but a classic old school tile bath is either 4-1/4" square, 6" square or 3x6" tile with bullnose trim that is either the same sizes as above or 2-1/4" or 2" by 6"., all in the same color. Sometimes with a pencil molding or stick molding (1/4" or 1/2" wide) in a contrasting color between the field tile and the bull nose.

Could you post an example of what you mean?

I interpreted the question as being are two-tone showers out and is the new trend towards monochromatic tiles?

That's the way I interpreted it also.
