Monitor won't go to sleep

Linda_IAFebruary 28, 2010

Vista Home Premium 32 bit. All updates that I'm aware of.

For some reason my monitor won't go to sleep anymore. It is set for 2

minutes, and used to do just that with no activity. Now it just stays on.

Anyone know what might be causing this, and if there is a fix for it. Thank

you.

The simple fix I always find works is to go in and change the time to enter snooze. Up it to 5 minutes and see where you go.

Two minutes seems a very short time, all you need to do is look away and it has gone into snooze mode. Don't you find the constant waking a tiresome chore?

Thank you both for your input.
I did a Google search and found many different opinions on what to do. Who do you trust?
I have now changed from 2 to 5 minutes. Will let you know if this helps.
Again thank you both.

I am with Owbist how on earth do you stand your monitor going to sleep in just 2 or 5 minutes, I personally disable all sleep modes but things like screen saver I have set for at least 30 minutes of inactivity before activating.

I had that no sleep problem not too long ago on vista - saw a note in error log srefering to a usb device interfering.. turned off allow entering sleep to the particular usb in device mgr properties.

Windows sometimes tells things in your error logs, and other things are easy to search.

Thanks for all the input. I went to Dell to
see if there was any recommended download, and there were 3 that were
urgent ones for graphics. After I downloaded and installed them, things are
working just fine again. Wish I'd thought of going there first.
