Anyone have a F&P RF201ADX4 fridge?

mrsmortarmixerJune 4, 2014

I searched the forum and found several mixed reviews on Fisher & Paykel refrigerators, but none of the model numbers matched this particular one, so I wasn't sure if there was any new technology or if it's just a new number slapped on the last model with limited or no changes. I'm hesitant to order one without a bit more knowledge. Any added information out there? Their warranty isn't spectacular, but I'm not sure if it matters.

I really like the depth of this particular fridge as well as the lack of water/ice. There are very few fridges that lack water/ice, and they are the only ones I'm interested in. If this isn't a smart purchase, are there any other fridges close in depth without water/ice with fairly good reviews?

I've been looking at this same model, and think I'm going to go with it. There is a Bosch fridge that does have water/ice, but I guess you access it from the inside, because there's no water/ice spout on the door. The clean all-stainless look is similar to FP. Of course, the handles aren't as nice....

I'm very tempted to just order one.

To me, the biggest pros for no water/ice are:
-No loss of space.
-Two less things to break.
-Less chance of flooding.
-No water filters to replace.

Bonus points for the flat front and clean look. I'm not a fan of stainless, but it looks like it's my best bet for getting what I want/need for the space.

The biggest cons or concerns:
-Finding a repairman to work on F&P. I thought about calling several local-ish repair shops to see if they are familiar. It's probably overkill, but I'd rather not be without a fridge for weeks/months because there's no one willing to fix it.
-Warranty/customer service. They seem to answer quickly on their FB page, but several were complaining about waiting forever without talking to someone, or FP not returning calls.
-Possibly a new model/new technology. Less time for unknown issues to show up and less/no reviews.
