Range hood for a townhouse?

marvelousmarvinMay 10, 2012

I have a townhouse which restricts what I can do, and so I can't vent outside. And, I'm also stuck with an electric range so it won't give off as much power or btus as a gas range. (I wanted to replace electric with gas range but it was too expensive to do that).

In a case like this, what's the best range hood?

Since I can't vent outside, does it even really matter what I get for the range hood? Would it be a waste of money to get something better than a recirculating range hood?

Most condos don't let you vent outside either.

In this case, I think it best to go with an over the range microwave. A recirculating hood doesn't do much and an OTR MW saves space. Just crack a window when you are cooking!

I was looking into a over the range microwaves as well, but it seems they'd be less durable than a range hood. It'd be a bad mixture to combine electronics with all that heat, steam, and grease that the range would create below.
