Backing of bathroom mirrror

macvirtualasstMay 9, 2012

Hi All,

I never thought about this before...but we have an antique mirror that is perfect for our bathroom, but it has paper backing. Can that be used in a bathroom, as far as moisture concerns from the shower? Is there a "rule" per se on bathroom mirrors? Not sure what to do...

I would think that the bathroom would be a problem for this mirror. I know some mirrors are rated for damp locations. I doubt that this designation was present in the past. The paper may be a problem, and maybe the silvering on the back will degrade.

Call a mirror company and find out and post what you learn.

Thanks enduring. We ended up getting one at the bath section in Lowes.
