Cooktop doesn't work after tipping it forward

DMC0942April 15, 2013

I dropped something behind my bosch electric range/oven and retrieved it. To do this, however, i tipped the range forward to move it out of its space. After i put the range back the cooktop no longer heats up or starts. everything else works, e.g., oven, oven light, clock etc. Everything BUT the cooktop. I turned off the breaker for 15 minutes as suggested by the manufacturer, but it did not correct the problem. If this is a safety feature (turning off the heat when you tip the stove too far forward, it should have disengaged by now i would think.

Everything worked as designed until i got clumsy.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
---Dave

It's possible a connection came loose or a wire broke. Can you take off the top and look around? Make sure and turn off the circuit breaker before you do so. You may end up needing a service call to fix it.
