Toilet install ===) Yellow jackets?

pachrissApril 13, 2013

I have been reading the bathroom and toilet discussions for a few months, and the feedback members provided was extremely helpful, and we just put in a new Toto Vespin II this week - so far so good, but...

When the old toilet was removed, I saw something move on the floor, and found not one, but TWO yellow jackets next to the hole. They seemed slow and dazed, but what on earth were they doing there, and how the heck did they get there?

If it had been only one, I'd have thought it a fluke, but two has me worried. I am not sure what lies beneath... It's either a slab or crawl space, and I have not seen any outdoor insect activity. Is there potentially a nest under the toilet? What do I check? Many thanks for any thoughts!

Sounds like a crawlspace that is open and uninsulated. While it should be vented, it should also be screened and insulated.
